Eris is operated by Eris League LLC, a New York limited liability company. References to "we," "us," or "our" throughout this policy refer to Eris League LLC. You can reach us at hello@erisleague.com.

Information you provide directly:

• Account information: username, email address, password
• Phone number: optional, collected only if you choose to enable SMS text reminders (see Section 10)
• League and pick activity: leagues created or joined, picks submitted, competition history
• Communications: messages sent to us via email or support channels
• Future features: profile content, avatars, chat messages, and other user-generated content when those features are introduced

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data: pages visited, features used, picks made, time spent on the platform
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs
• Analytics data: collected via Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Operate leagues, process picks, and display results
• Send transactional communications: account confirmations, pick reminders, elimination notices
• Send marketing communications — only with your explicit consent at signup
• Analyze platform usage and improve features
• Enforce our Terms of Service and community standards
• Process payments when premium features are introduced
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting on third-party platforms.

Eris uses cookies and similar tracking technologies:

• Strictly Necessary: Required for the platform to function — session management, authentication, and security. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics cookies that collect anonymized usage data. IP addresses processed by GA4 are anonymized. Can be opted out via your browser settings or Google's opt-out tool.
• Functional: Cookies that remember your preferences and settings to personalize your experience.

By using the platform, you consent to our use of cookies as described above. You can manage non-essential cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect platform functionality.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention or legal compliance.

League activity, pick history, and competition records may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form after account deletion to preserve league integrity and for platform analytics.

Dormant accounts inactive for 12 or more consecutive months may be subject to deactivation following notice to your registered email.

In the event of a data security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with the New York SHIELD Act and any other applicable law. Notification will be provided without unreasonable delay and will include the nature of the breach, the information affected, and the steps we are taking in response. We maintain reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to prevent unauthorized access to your data.

We will only send marketing communications if you explicitly opt in at signup. You may withdraw consent at any time by:

• Clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email
• Emailing hello@erisleague.com with the subject "Unsubscribe"

Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect transactional communications related to your account, picks, or league activity.

Eris offers an optional SMS text reminder program for pick deadlines. This program is entirely opt-in: you will never receive a text unless you add your phone number and turn on SMS reminders in your profile settings.

• We collect your phone number only to send the reminders you request.
• Messages are transactional (pick deadline reminders); message frequency varies based on how many leagues you join and their schedules.
• We do not sell or share your phone number, and we do not use it for third-party marketing.
• Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier plan.
• You can opt out at any time by turning off SMS reminders in your profile, or by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance.

Opting out of SMS reminders does not affect your account, your email notifications, or your ability to play. SMS messages are delivered via Twilio (see Section 4).

Eris is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and delete associated data promptly. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at hello@erisleague.com.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure via Vercel. However, no online platform can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

As Eris grows, we may introduce features that involve additional data processing, including chat and messaging, community profiles, and mobile applications. When these features are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect any new data practices, and you will be notified of material changes.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the platform or by email. The effective date at the top of this document will reflect the most recent update. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
