Last updated: September 2, 2026 (accuracy corrections to Sections 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 13)

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user of Eris. By using the platform, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

Eris is operated by Eris League LLC, a New York limited liability company. References to "we," "us," or "our" throughout this policy refer to Eris League LLC. You can reach us at hello@erisleague.com.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information: username, email address, password
  • League and pick activity: leagues created or joined, picks submitted, competition history
  • Communications: messages sent to us via email or support channels
  • Future features: profile content, avatars, chat messages, and other user-generated content when those features are introduced

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, picks made, time spent on the platform
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs
  • Analytics data: aggregated, non-identifying usage metrics collected via Vercel Analytics
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Operate leagues, process picks, and display results
  • Send transactional communications: account confirmations, pick reminders, elimination notices
  • Send marketing communications, only if you have given explicit opt-in consent
  • Analyze platform usage and improve features
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and community standards
  • Process payments when premium features are introduced
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services & Data Processing

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

Vercel

Eris is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel processes technical and usage data as part of hosting and deployment, including IP addresses transmitted as part of standard web requests. A Data Processing Agreement is in place with Vercel. See Vercel's Privacy Policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Supabase

Eris uses Supabase to provide our database, authentication, and account infrastructure. Supabase stores your account information, league and pick activity, and other data necessary to operate the platform. A Data Processing Agreement is in place with Supabase. See Supabase's Privacy Policy at supabase.com/privacy.

Vercel Analytics

We use Vercel's built-in analytics for performance and usage insights. It is cookieless, and the data it collects is aggregated and does not identify you. See Vercel's Privacy Policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Your Privacy Choices

We do not sell your personal information. Depending on your browser settings, we may honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) as an opt-out preference signal where required by law. If you have questions about how your data is used, contact us at hello@erisleague.com.

Sports Data Providers

We use third-party providers to supply schedules, scores, and statistics. These providers receive limited technical information as part of standard API requests, typically including IP addresses in request headers. No personal account data is shared with sports data providers.

Future Payment Processors

When premium subscriptions are introduced, we will use a third-party payment processor such as Stripe. We will not store your payment card data directly. A Data Processing Agreement will be in place with any payment processor used.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting on third-party platforms.

5. Cookies

Eris uses only strictly necessary cookies, for session management, authentication, and security. These cannot be disabled without breaking the platform, and we do not ask for consent to set them.

Our analytics (Vercel Analytics) is cookieless. We do not use advertising, cross-site tracking, or third-party marketing cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you will not be able to sign in if you block the strictly necessary ones.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active.

Deleting your account

When you request deletion, your account enters a 30 day grace period. During that time your account still works normally and you can cancel the request. After the grace period ends, we permanently delete your account and the personal data tied to it, including your login credentials, your profile (username, display name, email address), your picks and pick history, your push notification subscriptions, and any league chat messages you have sent. Deletion normally finishes within 30 days of your request. If you are the only commissioner of a league that has other members, we first transfer the commissioner role to another member so the league can keep running, and deletion still finishes in about 30 days.

What we keep after deletion

A limited set of league administrative records may be kept after your account is deleted, for league integrity and to resolve disputes. These record that an action happened, for example that a winner was declared, that a player was manually removed, or that a commissioner deleted a message. Before we delete your account, direct identifiers are stripped from these records: your name, your account identifier, and the text of any message a commissioner removed. These records are not fully anonymous, because the surrounding league context can sometimes make an event indirectly identifying, so we keep only what is needed for the purpose above. They are deleted when their league is deleted, and we otherwise review them at least once a year and delete any that are no longer needed. We may also keep information where the law requires it or for legitimate purposes such as fraud prevention and security.

Accounts inactive for 12 or more consecutive months may be deactivated after we send notice to your registered email address.

7. Your Privacy Rights

New York Residents

Under New York law, including the SHIELD Act, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format upon request

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal data. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf.

International Users

Eris is operated from the United States and is intended for users in jurisdictions where the platform is lawful to use. If you are accessing Eris from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the platform, you consent to this transfer. Contact us at hello@erisleague.com with questions about international data transfers.

All Users

Regardless of your location, we will honor reasonable requests to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at hello@erisleague.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with the New York SHIELD Act and any other applicable law. Notification will be provided without unreasonable delay and will include the nature of the breach, the information affected, and the steps we are taking in response. We maintain reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to prevent unauthorized access to your data.

9. Marketing Communications & Consent

We ask at signup whether you want marketing and newsletter emails from us, and you can change that choice at any time from your notification settings. We do not currently send marketing emails. If we begin sending them, every marketing email will include a one click unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing hello@erisleague.com with the subject "Unsubscribe".

League notification emails

Separately from marketing, we send emails about your leagues, such as pick reminders, elimination notices, and weekly results. You can turn each of these off from your notification settings, and every one of these emails links to those settings in its footer.

Transactional emails

Some emails are necessary to run your account and cannot be turned off while your account is active, for example account and email confirmations, security notices, and the notice that a league you are in has finished.

10. Children's Privacy

Eris is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and delete associated data promptly. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at hello@erisleague.com.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure via Vercel. However, no online platform can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

12. Future Features

As Eris grows, we may introduce features that involve additional data processing, including chat and messaging, community profiles, and mobile applications. When these features are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect any new data practices, and you will be notified of material changes.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the platform or by email. The effective date at the top of this document will reflect the most recent update. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

A notice about a change to this policy is a service communication about your account, not marketing. We send it regardless of your marketing email preferences.
